Better sex can...Sex, even if it's by yourself, releases happy hormones we lose as we age. The "love hormone" or oxytocin increases when we have an orgasm. Other hormones like endorphins that improve mood and a sense of well-being also increase after a good orgasm. Rutgers University professor emeritus Beverly Whipple conducted studies that showed pain tolerance increased by up to 74.6% after orgasms, while other studies showed that reduced blood pressure after orgasm improved headaches. A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that a hormone called DHEA is released every time you have an orgasm, which can strengthen your immune system, improve your mental abilities, and reduce depression.
And finally, Toronto naturopathic doctor Natasha Turner reports that regular sex releases not only estrogen, but other hormones that increase collagen, improving skin tone, and even helping to protect against heart disease and osteoporosis that can come with aging.
